Services

Each massage service is tailored to your individual needs.  We combine the following massage styles or services, to make sure you receive the massage best suited to you.

Relaxation / Swedish Massage

Swedish / Relaxation Massage techniques are the foundation for every massage.

This gentle style of massage service can improve circulation, which helps promote relaxation.   It also decreases stress and muscular tension, which helps reduce pain.

5 essential techniques are used for specific reasons.  Effleurage is a long, gentle stroke to warm up your muscles.  While Petrissage is more of a kneading or pulling stroke which can help release muscle tension.  Tapotment, Friction and Vibration all help bring blood to the surface.  Each stroke has specific effect on your body to help relax your muscles and reduce pain and stress.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage service focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. It is especially helpful for chronic aches and pains.  Such pain is often felt as a stiff neck and upper back, low back pain, leg muscle tightness, and sore shoulders.

Some of the same strokes are used in relaxation massage. However, the movement is slower and the pressure is deeper.  This helps to concentrate on areas of tension and pain.  More pressure is used in order to reach the sub-layer of muscles and fascia (the connective tissue surrounding muscles).

Therapeutic Massage

Therapeutic Massage service helps relieve pain from injury, overuse or misalignment.
It can include a variety of modalities, or therapies.
Depending on individual needs, stretching, shortening, trigger point therapy and other styles of massage can be used.
Each of these styles has specific purpose such as, to increase range of motion, or reduce pain.

It is important to communicate directly with your therapist to ensure the best results.

Bowenwork

Bowenwork is a specific series of muscle and connective tissue moves, designed to release restrictions and initiate the healing process.

This type of bodywork  service addresses every system in the body: joints, musculoskeletal, circulation and internal organ systems.
The gentle moves send powerful neurological impulses to the brain.
The brain then processes the information and realigns the body.

Energy Work

Reiki

Reiki is a gentle, effective and safe method of balancing your energy.  This type of energy work treats your whole body.  You can integrate it with a relaxation massage service as well as enjoy the healing benefits as a standalone session.

During a Reiki session, you can remain fully clothed.  With their hands on or over you, energy is channeled by your practitioner  where it is needed most.

The most common experience during and after a treatment is the feeling of peace, relaxation and security.  It can also relieve anxiety, aid in pain management, improve sleep, encourage mental clarity, and release negative emotions.

F.A.Q.

We welcome any questions you might have regarding massage and bodywork.
Here are some frequently asked questions.

Your massage or bodywork session will take place in a warm, comfortable, quiet room. Soft music may be played to help you relax. You will lie on a table especially designed for your comfort.

Most massage and bodywork techniques are traditionally performed with the client unclothed; however, it is entirely up to you what you want to wear. You should undress to your level of comfort. You will be properly draped during the entire session.

The practitioner will leave the room while you undress, relax onto the table, and cover yourself with a clean sheet or towel.

You will be properly draped at all times to keep you warm and comfortable. Only the area being worked on will be exposed.

A typical full-body session will include work on your back, arms, legs, feet, hands, head, neck, and shoulders.

A relaxing Swedish massage is often a baseline for clients. In a general Swedish massage, your session may start with broad, flowing strokes; this will help calm your nervous system and relax muscle tension. As your body becomes relaxed, pressure will gradually be increased to relax specific areas. Often, a light oil or lotion is used to allow your muscles to be massaged without causing excessive friction to the skin. The oil also helps hydrate your skin. You should communicate immediately if you feel any discomfort so that another approach may be taken. Massage and bodywork are most effective when your body is not resisting.

There are numerous types of massage and bodywork.  Various techniques utilize different strokes.  These strokes include basic rubbing strokes, rocking, posture and movement re-education, application of pressure to specific points, and more. We can discuss which methods may be most appropriate for you.

Prior to the massage, feel free to ask the practitioner any questions about the technique or the upcoming session. During the massage, make yourself comfortable. The practitioner will either gently move you or tell you what is needed throughout the session (such as lifting your arm). Many people just close their eyes and completely relax, communicating if/when they need more or less pressure, another blanket, or anything else relevant to the session. If you have any questions regarding the session or about the particular technique you are receiving, feel free to ask.

Most people feel very relaxed. Some experience freedom from long-term aches and pains, likely developed from tension or repetitive activity. After an initial period of relaxation, clients often experience increased energy, heightened awareness, and greater productivity.  Relief can last for days.  It is important to drink plenty of water following a massage, as toxins are released from your soft tissues.

Massage and bodywork can:
-help release chronic muscular tension and pain,
-improve circulation,
-increase joint flexibility,
-reduce mental and physical fatigue and stress,
-promote faster healing of injured muscular tissue,
-improve posture,
-and reduce blood pressure.

Massage and bodywork is also known to promote better sleep, improve concentration, reduce anxiety and create an overall sense of well-being.

Yes. It is imperative that, before you begin your session, the practitioner asks general health questions. It is very important that you inform the practitioner of any health problems or medications you are taking. If you are under a doctor’s care, it is strongly advised that you receive a written recommendation for massage or bodywork prior to any session. Depending on the condition, approval from your doctor may be required.
