Marcos Ivan Cervantes
NVLMT#12153

Marcos attended Truckee Meadows Community College and graduated in 2022. He started working with StretchZone as a stretch practitioner just after. As a stretch practitioner certified through the Massage Board he would help people gradually increase their active range of motion, relieve stiffness and soreness, enhance athletic performance, and help people feel lighter and younger.
This is where he first realized he wanted to specialize in Sports massage and Thai massage. Helping people manage their pain and help facilitate positive change in the lives of those I serve is what he loves to do!

He grew up playing sports and was always outside being active. Playing all the sports, he once believed he was going to become a physical educator.  In his senior year of high school he completely tore his ACL and MCL ligaments on my right knee and was not able to continue playing at a competitive level anymore. It was a painful experience physically, but mentally it was even worse because he saw his initial dreams fade away. This made him feel like he lost his way, but thankfully had his mother by my side.

What inspired Marcos to become a massage therapist was his mothers unconditional love and her touch. She helped him heal from within. Empowering him to know, love, and trust his body. Just like a garden, I was able to cultivate a new dream!
“She taught me to turn the “me” into “we”. On our own, we can’t fully feel our bodies from the outside in. Massage helps us learn the importance of accepting the help of others and how a client may feel accepting our help. It is through touch that we discover the landscape of our own terrain, and our bodies.”

His favorite type of massage is a 90 minute Deep tissue massage.  “I love that moment when a muscle finally releases, and a client physically sighs with their whole body. It brings him happiness after he has given what he calls a successful massage – “one that leaves my client feeling like they are walking on air.”

Planning ahead

Marcos plans to continue his education in massage therapy by taking additional courses and workshops to expand my knowledge and skills. He plans to pursue further training in specific areas such as Sports massage, Thai massage, Trigger Point therapy, Myofascial Release, and Manual therapy. He firmly believes by continuing his education, he can provide the best possible care for his clients and help them achieve their health and wellness goals.

“I want my clients to go off into the world feeling a bit better. I love it when clients get off my table and have the look of blissfulness on their faces. They are so amazed at how much mobility they have regained, relieved of their aches and pains, and overall are relaxed and refreshed. The joys of knowing that I have made a difference in someone’s life with my passion for what I do, makes ‘why’ totally worth it.”
He believes this profession has the potential not only to change the lives of our clients, but also to benefit their friends, their families, and society at large.

In his experience of working as a massage therapist he realized that receiving massage was the very first step on his enduring journey as a massage therapist. “It has also been my experience that by receiving massage, we realize that, by listening to our bodies, we learn to understand our body’s needs. Massage gives us a tool to better understand our bodies, and it helps us appreciate the world around us –not to mention, we get to feel like the best vision of ourselves.”

Through gaining a better understanding of his body, which evolved by virtue of consistent massage, he was able to deepen his self-awareness, explore and understand nutrition and exercise, move through old traumas, and so much more. “Without a connection to our bodies, it is difficult to fully appreciate being human. As a massage therapist it is important to cultivate a connection to our own bodies in order to help others do the same. I believe massage eases people into the moment and can be a useful tool for enjoying the present. It’s my superpower! Helping people, there’s not much I don’t enjoy about being an LMT.”

Marcos will be available Thursday-Sunday from 12p-7p starting at the end of September!
