Please welcome more availability on the weekends with the help of our newest Licensed Massage Therapist, Josh Shinneman! (NVLMT#13033). We are so happy to have his help to offer more availability starting Saturdays and Sundays.
A graduate of the TMCC Massage Therapy Program, he is able to use a variety of techniques and pressures to adapt to individual preferences.
Studying at TMCC, Josh graduated with top marks, and has been certified to practice various modalities. Such modalities include myofascial release, aromatherapy, hot stone, thermotherapy, and sports massage. Simultaneously specializing in medical massage, deep tissue and neuromuscular techniques. As he continues to expand his repertoire, his focus will be on structural integration techniques. These encourage life changing effects from pain alleviation and increased mobility. Helping to rebalance the body’s structures. Additionally assisting in alleviating the detrimental effects of medical disorders associated with the soft tissues, stress and anxiety.
History
Born and raised in Reno, he has always been fascinated by technology and the sciences. Particularly the complexity of the human body. This inclination toward general biology, anatomy and physiology, coupled with a love for receiving massages progressively led him to discover his passion for bodywork. Long before undertaking accreditation, he and his siblings would often exchange back and shoulder rubs. Working out tension from sports, physically demanding hobbies and various physical labor. Though it would be many years before he began his journey toward becoming a licensed therapist.
In his youth, Josh strove to become a surgeon, studying with great fervor. Free time dedicated to get ahead on his knowledge base. Though, by the time he entered college he had pivoted toward studying physics and engineering, with a minor in psychology. This provided a solid platform for his understanding of the body and mind. That is when he discovered his enthusiasm for massage. This allowed him to deepen his potential for becoming an exemplary therapist. His goal, to be capable of, and competent in, taking in to account the trinity of mind, body, and circumstance. The final result is a top notch experience for his clients.
Currently, Josh will be available Saturday – Sunday 10am-6pm at the Sparks location, with increased availability come summer of 2025.
